MONITOR: As we consider the Mental Judge Self, we will add clarity to our understanding of the human personality and its point of evolution in the present time. Thus, much of what we say about the dynamics of the Judge Selves in an individual will have significant application to the dynamics of cultures, societies and organizations.
Isolation
The Mental Judge Self in an individual is normally in hiding, extremely alert and sensing the distance for possible threat. This situation occurs when the Mental Judge Self lives in a state of isolation. Its isolation is self-imposed. No outside force has caused the Mental Judge Self to assume that type of safety-seeking. The Mental Judge Self of the average human being prefers isolation in seeking to preserve its own existence. This situation can best be explained, in our opinion, by understanding the disruption of (its home) planet Maldek.
Trauma of Maldek
The Mental Judge Self in your individual personality has a traumatic past. Its home planet, in which it gloried, was destroyed by accident. The entire planet was not decimated, but its physical and etheric planes of substance were disrupted, creating a need for transfer of its inhabitants to Earth.
Refugees in Earth
Upon coming to Earth as refugees in shock from a great catastrophe, the Mental Judge Selves were appalled with the vibratory conditions of Earth. They were moved by the Spiritual Hierarchy from the mental plane of Maldek to the mental plane of Earth. In comparison, they found the mental plane of Earth stale, boring and much slower in its action than their native environment. Many Mental Judge Selves remained in a shocked or comatose state during the transfer. When awakened, they found themselves in an alien world, surrounded by strange beings.
If you found yourself in similar circumstances, wouldn’t you react by withdrawing, isolating yourself from social contact, and being vigilant by regarding all strangers as potential threats?
Need for Healing
Because Mental Judge Selves have all gone through this type of catastrophic process, they have a need for healing their traumas from the past. They find it virtually impossible to heal themselves.
Abilities of Mental Maldekians
They derive from an intensely interactive and social background. In the mental plane of Maldek, they were highly active in pursuing their own creative projects, often collaborating with each other in relatively small groups and seeking what was new, exciting and promising. Their native environment supported development of extremely keen mental faculties. Within the human personality, those faculties may be identified as the ability to imagine, visualize and create. Yet, when the Mental Judge Self remains isolated and imprisoned by its own fear and trauma, its abilities are normally not available to the Outer Self.
Maldekians as the Shadow Self
The average person is as yet unaware that he/she contains a Mental Judge Self. In that state of ignorance, the Mental Judge Self has established a position of power. It remains in hiding and thus may be described as part of the “shadow” aspect of the personality (a term coined by Swiss Psychiatrist Carl Jung). It wishes to remain hidden in darkness. It fears being exposed to the light of self-knowledge. It prefers remaining in hiding because there it can manipulate, sabotage and control much of the action of the personality with impunity.
Creating Suffering
One of the principal dynamics expressed by a Mental Judge Self involves its purposeful creation of suffering on the part of other Selves in the personality, and even other personalities. Why does it behave that way?
This punitive mode of behavior often represents the only way that the Mental Judge can communicate its presence to other Selves in the personality, or to other personalities. This dynamic develops intensity, especially when the Mental Judge becomes extremely bored with isolation. That state creates a crisis for it, in which it becomes motivated to seek contact and communication with others. Yet it fears that contact.
The crisis builds until the Mental Judge makes more overt appearances in the life of the personality. This may often occur through moments of ribald or sarcastic humor, or in moments of abject cruelty. These actions express the unresolved and intense pain and suffering of the Mental Judge who seeks to make others feel as it feels.
Recognizing the Mental Judge Self
This type of emerging is often marked by paradoxical experiences in the awareness and experience of the Outer Self, who often finds words and action occurring through it that it expressly does not intend. Conversely, what the Outer Self most desires to do is not done. A contest of wills emerges, which offers the first inkling to the Outer Self of an Inner Self which acts in opposition to its desires and goals.
The Outer Self may frequently feel persecuted, and indeed it may be, because of the painful way in which the Mental Judge expresses its presence. Often the Outer Self experiences the pain caused by apparent “accidents,” misfortunes and illnesses as a means of recognizing the deep inner source of pain within the personality. By tracing the pain to its source, the Outer Self may find the Mental Judge Self. Yet, because the Mental Judge Self does not wish to be recognized, it creates confusion and distraction so that the Outer Self does not understand what it encounters at the source of the pain. This stalemate may continue for a hundred lifetimes in the physical plane.
Effect upon Basic Selves
In a personality’s development in the etheric and astral planes, the Basic Selves are often just as ignorant as the Outer Self of the existence of the Mental Judge. They, too, are affected in much the same way. If they trace the source of their pain, they follow a trail of secretive actions that lead to the Mental Judge. Yet the Mental Judge has such inventive and accomplished mental ability that it creates confusion for the Basic Selves as well. Thus, the crisis in the personality deepens, and most of the aspects of the personality go through a phase of intense suffering which inevitably leads to a breakthrough in understanding in which, Self after Self, they discover the Mental Judge. They realize that it is the initiator of much of their pain.
Male Self Reaction as Counter-Attack
This state leads to a crucial choice for each Self involved. If the Male Self, for example, desires to counter-attack and counter-sabotage the Mental Judge in retribution, the conflict in the personality becomes even more intense. Resolution through conflict will not work. Ultimately, a belligerent Male Self has to withdraw from aggression against the Mental Judge, having accumulated many additional wounds in the process of seeking retribution.
Female Self Reaction as Love: Building a Bridge of Respect
A Female Self, who wishes to apply the caring ways of Love to the Mental Judge, actually stands a better chance of achieving a positive relationship with it. However, she will likely undergo repeated attacks. If she is capable of responding with assertive limits and continued Love to the Mental Judge, it begins to respect her. Respect becomes the first step in building a bridge between them.
The Mental Judge is reminded, by the unstinting giving of Love, of its own early relationship with its creator, its Soul. When that memory stirs within it, the Mental Judge becomes more receptive and willing to extend credibility beyond its own being.
If attacked by an aggressive Male Self, the Mental Judge glories in finding new ways to create misery for its attacker. Its problem of boredom is temporarily alleviated by inventing new pitfalls for the attacking Male Self.
When the Female Self has been too hurt to give repeated loving responses to the attacks of the Mental Judge, hope for transformation of the Mental Judge rests with the Outer Self of the personality.
Outer Self Communication with Judge Self
The Outer Self is regarded by the Mental Judge as a “child” who poses no threat whatsoever to it. The Outer Self, who is advised to communicate with the Mental Judge, may do so in a variety of ways involving inner visualization, guided imagery, or dramatization. The Outer Self can often establish contact with the Mental Judge when the Basic Selves have failed to do so.
Deliberate Revealing of Mental Judge Selves
In the present development of humanity, Mental Judge Selves have collectively been nudged out of the shadows toward the light of self-knowledge. The actions of the Spiritual Hierarchy have deliberately provoked the revelation of Judge Selves. Normally, the Mental Judge is first revealed to the Outer Self, which occurs because the Mental Judge is most obsessed with maintaining control. As it feels a sense of losing control of the personality and the Outer Self in particular, the Mental Judge goes to great lengths to establish its control. Its efforts reveal it to the Outer Self who may recognize strong compulsions, ritualistic behavior, and an intense need to know what will occur in the future. The Mental Judge Self is revealed by such characteristics and behaviors.
Offer of Friendship
When the offer of friendship is extended to the Mental Judge, it usually refuses at first. It has lived a long existence filled with loss and suffering. It has turned away from others of its kind. If it does not trust its own neighbors, how will it trust what it regards as “alien beings?”
The Mental Judge normally reacts to an offer of friendship with skepticism. It tests the sincerity of the offer. The Outer Self who passes those tests gains the respect of the Mental Judge. The testing continues, and any misstep or unfulfilled promise on the part of the Outer Self is used as evidence of betrayal. The Mental Judge is ultimately willing to accept the offer of friendship because it is utterly bored with isolation.
Mental Judge’s Responses to Friendly Acts
Its responses to persistent friendly acts may vary from friendly to hostile responses. Its friendly responses to the Outer Self are part of its testing procedure. Its hostile responses are also part of its testing, but in the opposite direction of response. The Outer Self is advised to do the best it can in maintaining a friendly stance. Its investment is considerable, yet the return it reaps is enormous.
Transformation of Mental Judge
When the Mental Judge Self finally becomes willing to communicate, share in decision-making, and actively use its abilities for the benefit of the personality, the spiritual growth of the personality is rapidly accelerated. The Mental Judge Self may then use its inventiveness and spontaneity in adding delightful, incisive qualities to the personality. It no longer pulls the personality away from spiritual connection.
It no longer seeks to resist and distract the personality from the teachings of the Hierarchy. It no longer resists the increased radiance of the Soul shining into the chakra system and bodies of the personality. It no longer needs to seek enemies in other people as a means of distracting the personality from discovering it.
Consider the implications of the transformation of the Mental Judge Self from negative to positive modes of behavior.
Life Changes for Personality
As the transformation occurs in one person, that person’s life takes on new clarity of purpose, vitality and radiance. That person then affects others. A transformed Mental Judge may have dramatic effects upon the Judge Selves of neighboring personalities who have not been willing to undergo their own transformation. One transformed Mental Judge provides an example of freedom that other Mental Judges wish to emulate.
A great challenge exists for each person in facing the shadow side of their own personality and taking responsibility for building a radiance of Love within themselves. Each step taken by each individual adds to the impetus of collective humanity.
Planetary Effect of Transformation of Judge Selves
A critical mass is building in humanity at this time. First, a massive wave of negativity must arise as part of the process of revelation of the Mental Judge Selves in the personalities of the human population. As that wave rises and diminishes, an equally profound positive wave will follow. Thus, each person who achieves positive transformation of their Mental Judge will be called to assist many others in the same process.
During this time of trial and tribulation, many personalities are likely to prove unable to achieve the transformation of Mental Judge Selves, and thus they will be removed from the physical plane by action of their High Selves and the Hierarchy. Conditions in the physical plane will be simplified and intensified.
What we speak of now (in 1995) may seem abstract, yet with the passage of time in the next decade you will find wisdom in what we share, a practical wisdom that will have much to do with personal and collective survival.
Worldwide Transformation
Consider the historical condition of humanity. A study of history reveals countless power struggles, endless wars and utter confusion concerning the achievement of true brotherhood, sisterhood and unity with God. All that a person or a society holds dear as the highest value becomes distorted and a means of oppression. Thus, the source of the oppression must be discovered and respected.
As this occurs with the Mental judge Self, effective strategies can be devised to transform politics, economics, religion and culture. No longer will human beings be forced to suffer. The valid need underlying their suffering may be recognized and resolved. Yet that action must occur person by person. In the process, many of the illusions, glamours and maya – the creations of humanity – will be destroyed, as they need to be.
Linkage with Devic Kingdom
In the future, enlightened Mental Judge Selves will link humanity in creative harmony with the devic kingdom. Because Judge Selves, or Maldekians, are devic in nature, they easily relate to the devic kingdom of Earth. Because Judge Selves regret their destruction of part of their planet, they have a specific role to play in working cooperatively with the devic kingdom of Earth to preserve and evolve Life in this planet.
By doing this constructively, with special emphasis on the healing of the physical and etheric planes of Earth, Mental Judges and Astral Judges may earn the right to return to their home planet where they will rebuild what they have destroyed and thus continue their process of evolution.
We believe this information is sufficient to provide a basis for responding to questions and points of view.
Question and Answer
Q1: Response of Mental Judge to Music
JEFF: I have begun to work with certain songs in my meditations as an experiment to find out why specific songs invoke in me certain emotions and intensities of emotion. I was surprised to find my Mental Judge Self responding to one song in particular. As I’d meditate to the song, I’d have a vision of him doing a dance similar to a Native American dance. I get a sense that this is healing and freeing for him as he expresses this way. Could you verify this? Is using music in this way, to let the Judge Selves express themselves, a valid way of helping build friendship?
Music and Dance from Mental Plane of Maldek
MONITOR: Yes. We verify your observation. The image you have of the dance is a physical interpretation of your Mental Judge Self’s experience in the mental plane of Maldek. The music, and the quality of sharing that you generate in your personality, gives your Mental Judge a stimulus to remember similar times of true communion and joy experienced in its own past. When it experiences the re-creation of such past moments, your Mental Judge becomes aware of its ability to create equivalent experiences in the present existence. This represents a type of inspiration which spreads through the ethers, affecting other Mental Judges.
Because Mental Judges are inclined to watch each other carefully, distrusting each other, they observe such illuminated moments and wonder whether they too can achieve such joy. Sometimes they react by sinking into despondency, fearing that they cannot recapture their happy past. Yet, once their despondency and fear have passed, they become curious again and seek to observe more closely. With repetition of experiences such as you describe the Mental Judge Selves who observe may be motivated to communicate. Sometimes their communication will consist of their joining in the dance.
Such experiences have great value and will occur to those people throughout the planet who somehow find their way to that type of expression. Music, dance, ritual and dramatic expression through the arts all provide means for assisting Mental Judge Selves to gain a sense of inspiration, a renewed sense of their positive potential.
Have we addressed your question?
JEFF: Yes. Thank you, Monitor.
Q2: Are There Personalities Without Judge Selves?
JULIE: A question that was sent in, Monitor, is, “Are there some personalities on Earth who do not have Mental Judge Selves? And if so, why not?”
Spiritual Mastery/Freedom of Judge Selves
MONITOR:Ascended Masters no longer contain Judge Selves in their personalities. In the process of achieving Spiritual Mastery through various stages of initiation, their Basic Selves unify, and their Judge Selves are freed from the personality. Their Judge Selves take what they have gained from the experience of the personality and return as individuals to the mental and astral planes, where they find others like them who have achieved freedom from the personality. There they work together in finding ways to awaken others of their kind.
Unengaged Maldekian Beings
At this time in Earth, the greater number of Mental and Astral Maldekians remain unengaged from human personalities, as compared to those that have joined human personalities. Thus, a vast amount of work remains to be done for those Maldekians who have not embodied in personalities.
Ascended Masters have no Judge Selves and are free to express Divine Radiance and the higher abilities without internal resistance.
A human personality experiences the resistance created by its Judge Selves and benefits from that resistance inasmuch as it motivates the Basic Selves and the Outer Self to seek freedom from ignorance, bondage and pain. Judge Selves act as a negative catalyst through most of the physical lifetimes of the personality. And when they are transformed, the personality rapidly accomplishes Spiritual Mastery. The Judge Selves then contribute in positive ways to the evolution of the personality and are given their freedom from it.
Q3: Judge Selves and Violence
JULIE: Monitor, I’d like to follow that with one more question. “Is a lot of the violence that we see today, that seems to be increasing rapidly, plus things like the Oklahoma City bombing, the O.J. Simpson trial, the Waco siege, and all that, really Judge Self dynamics being displayed so that we can see it?”
MONITOR: Of course. Most human conflict, ignorance and suffering derive mainly from Judge Self dynamics. Each personality undergoes those experiences in order to be motivated to seek their opposite. In seeking, the Outer Self may achieve unification of the personality. As unified personalities accumulate, wars will not be permitted. The politics of exploitation will be banned. The withholding of resources from the masses will be abolished. Resistance to spiritual enlightenment will cease.
In order to be recognized, Judge Selves must be traced by their behavior. Their behavior reveals their presence through human conflict, ignorance and suffering.
Q4: Clarification about Judge Selves
MARY: Isn’t there another side to that, to the behavior of the Judge Selves? I remember when I was in graduate school. After researching all my materials, I went to sleep and, in the morning, I had everything laid out the way I wanted to write my papers or whatever was needed. Isn’t that some part of the Judge Selves’ work?
MONITOR: No.
MARY: No?
MONITOR: That occurred through the efforts of your Male Self.
MARY: Oh, okay.
MONITOR: Judge Selves, when in an isolated state, are not motivated to help the personality. They are so filled with fear that they seek isolation and distancing of every type as the line of least resistance. To help would go against the grain.
MARY: But once they reduce their fear and anger, they are willing to help. In doing the exercises with the Male and Female Selves, I also did one with my Judge Selves. I found it interesting that my Astral Judge Self wanted to draw, but my Mental Judge Self wanted to help in writing the story that I’m going to write.
Assistance by Mental Judge Selves
MONITOR: Correct. When their fear is diminished through repetitive experiences of friendship and support, Mental and Astral Judge Selves are motivated to return the favor. They then may greatly enjoy offering their support.
Mental Judge Selves may offer valuable support in tasks which require mental clarity, agility and discernment. Mental Judge Selves may be called upon to assist in the expression of viewpoints which invite other people to open their minds because they know well what causes the minds to be closed. They may be used as consultants in dealing with hostile or fearful people in all kinds of situations.
Q5: Did Jesus Have Judge Selves?
HELEN: When Jesus was on Earth, did he have Judge Selves?
MONITOR: Yes. Jesus has not left Earth, but merely the physical plane. In the course of his struggles in the Garden of Gethsemane, much of his struggle centered upon both of his Judge Selves. Where they wished to move with divergent purposes from the path of highest promise, he required solitude in order to commune with all aspects of his being in order to achieve sufficient harmony that he could commune and embody the radiant forces not only of his Soul, but of the Christ Force during those times of trial. If his Judge Selves had succeeded in diverting his purpose, he would not have achieved the demonstration that has been of such great value for humanity.
HELEN: Well, if he is still connected with Earth, is he still involved with his Judge Selves?
MONITOR: Only at times. He is an Ascended Master, and in his work in manifesting through the office of the Christ and radiating the Christ Force for the planet, he occasionally communicates with them. His Judge Selves have joined with others in organizing transformational events for those Maldekians not engaged in the human personality.
Q6: Integration of Mental and Astral Judge Selves
JULIE: [From a submitted question] “Could you give us an idea of what would help my Mental Judge most to be motivated to integrate with my Astral Judge? Will they do it of themselves, or do they need help in integrating? What would help most?”
MONITOR: Usually the Mental Judge needs considerable assistance to relate positively to his astral counterpart. Let us summarize the organization of the Maldekian personality.
The Maldekian Personality
Souls who decided to embody in Maldek were permitted to create a mental expression of themselves as Mental Maldekians. Their mental expression was androgynous and therefore retained close contact with the Soul. The Mental Maldekians were given freedom to develop. They enjoyed many opportunities to create in a world organized almost exclusively along the lines of devic consciousness. The world they cooperatively created with their Souls was, and is, extremely beautiful. Its beauty radiated from the mental plane of Maldek to the mental planes of all of the planets of this system and thus provided unusual benefits to the Solar Logos.
Creation of Astral Maldekians
When the Mental Maldekians reached an appropriate point of development, they desired to experience the role of creator of other beings in the manner that their Souls created them. They wished to share in the joy of parenting. Most Mental Maldekians received permission from their Souls to create an astral counterpart. The force of the Soul moved through the mind of the Mental Maldekian, penetrating into the astral plane of Maldek, which had previously not been inhabited by beings of that caliber.
The Astral Maldekians pursued their own path of development, moving from a state of dependency to a state of independence. The Mental Maldekians resisted the independence of their “children,” yet did not have the power to prevent it. As Astral Maldekians developed independently, they formed societies of unusual configurations which confounded the Mental Maldekians.
Disruption of Maldek
During the process of development of the Astral Maldekians, the planet was disrupted by their accidental merging of vibratory forces. Thus, the Maldekian personality – consisting of a Soul, a well-developed Mental aspect and a partially developed Astral aspect – was placed into an abrupt change of course.
Maldekians Transported to Earth
When the Mental, Astral and Soul aspects of the Maldekian personalities were transported to Earth, the Souls took up residence on the causal plane, dealing well with the transition. Their Mental aspects often resisted the transition and moved into isolation. The Astral aspects were so traumatized that they migrated into the densest and darkest portions of the astral plane of Earth, becoming so lost and confused that their Mental counterparts wished to completely dissociate from them.
Taking that image, consider how the Mental Judge Self involved in the human personality views its astral counterpart. The Mental Judge often feels embarrassed about the Astral Judge. The Mental Judge needs to recognize that its embarrassment is properly focused on itself, because its role as parent and creator has only been partially fulfilled. If the Mental Judge is trapped in illusion, it regards itself as a failure as a parent and creator.
Facing that illusion becomes quite difficult for the Mental Judge. It needs assistance to gain insight into that illusion, which it perpetuates in ignorance. The Outer Self can assist greatly in that process, helping the Mental Judge clear that illusion either through a gradual process of insights or through the more rapid and dynamic process of Illusion Clearing which calls in the Light of the Maldekian Soul. In this and other ways, the Outer Self may assist the Mental Judge in accepting and supporting its astral counterpart.
JULIE: Thank you, Monitor. Would you care to give us an exercise or some closing comments?
Conclusions: Explore the Shadow Side
In conclusion, we invite you to persist in your efforts to explore the shadowy dimensions of your personality. What you often sense with fear gives you a distorted image. The image that most Outer Selves hold of the Mental Judge Self remains distorted by ignorance, doubt and fear. When you persist in attaining friendship with your Mental Judge, you find yourself in a position of invoking the “genie out of the bottle.” The genie may appear enormous and imposing, yet when motivated by good will for you, it becomes one of your greatest allies. You, in turn, hold the key to providing opportunity for your genie to achieve freedom. Thus you may be encouraged by practical results in finding your lives increasingly filled with Love, joy, spontaneity and freedom.
We look forward to our next discussion which focuses on the Astral Judge Self. You may, if you wish, ask your own Astral Judge Self what questions it wishes to provide for that discussion.
We bless each one, and we leave you now.
Exercise 1: Golden Light of Grace for the Mental Judge
MONITOR: Yes, we would. As an exercise for those interested, we suggest that you, the Outer Self, ask your High Self to shine the Golden Light of Grace into your personality, especially bathing your Mental Judge Self in it. This action brings comfort and reassurance to your Mental Judge. You may sense that state of comfort and aroused interest on its part.
Exercise 2: Artistic Expression
MONITOR: Then invite your Mental Judge to express itself in some artistic or dramatic form, stating whatever it wishes to state in whatever manner it chooses. You may have on hand art materials, costumes, props, and the like, that would support its dramatization.
At first, the Mental Judge may approach its expression in a restricted manner. Yet, as you allow it freedom of expression, it will become more vivid in its actions.
We encourage you to share in the process, allowing its expression with as much feeling of support as you can muster. You may encounter some fears on your part that the Mental Judge will do something of which you do not approve. We encourage you to stretch your limits of tolerance as much as you can manage. By such actions, you may gain a sense of satisfaction in then asking your Mental Judge to explain what it has expressed. This entire exercise may be accomplished within a 15-20 minute period.
After the exercise, notice how you feel. Ask your Mental Judge to give you an image or a sensation of how it feels. We believe that you will find the exercise of value to do and share with others. We encourage you to share it in our next session.
